News Flash ... or, a place for one

My latest weekend project - a bulletin board and coat hanging center for our front entry. Since I started my daycare, I wanted a place to neatly hang all the coats, diaper bags, hats, etc, and a place to post messages and notices. I made this with sound board/insulation board, a 1x4, coat hooks, and trim boards.

Here's what the sound board looks like. Basically it's just compressed cardboard like material, which we marked with a chalk line and then cut. I had made the coat hanger board a couple weeks ago - just painted a scrap piece of 1x4 and added the hooks.

I covered the soundboard with a fun cowboy fabric (cattle brands) which was attached to the board with a regular stapler. I wrapped the fabric tightly around the board and stapled into the back of the board.

My wonderful husband cut and sanded the trim boards for me and then I painted them. The end result is in the first picture - a nice covered bulletin board and place to hang coats and diaper bags. Easy as pie and much cheaper than a real bulletin board. :) This one measures 3 foot tall and 6 feet wide.
