Therapy and a Cookout

Today was a therapy day for our five year old who has autism.  He's been doing it as part of his preschool, but now that school is out, I get to be with him during the sessions, which is a lot of fun, and very interesting.

Today he saw the occupational therapist and a speech therapist.

At first he didn't want to get on the swing, but he wanted his brother to try it with him.

Then he was comfortable enough to lay on his stomach and then his back.

The therapist has his complete certain tasks while swinging, like grabbing cards off the floor or from above, or placing them on the floor, etc.

After therapy we headed up to the mountains to have lunch with friends who were camping.

It was a little chilly, and at one point we had to move into the camper, but mostly it was nice.

Our Pastor (in the cowboy hat) was trying to hand sew a zipper in one of his leather packs that he uses on his horses.  I volunteered to bring it home and fix it on my industrial machine, and he was happy to let me :)

The two year old was pretty worn out by the end of the picnic, and a sweet friend rocked him on the hammock. For awhile there, I though they were both asleep.  It was a good day :)
