Back to Therapeutic Riding

But first...  We've been hanging out with Papa and Bugga quite a bit lately.

Napping there too.  The three year old was so tired Sunday that he didn't even bother to take off his "fancy boots" as he calls them :)

Tuesday the five year old started back with his therapeutic horseback riding lessons.  He only has 6 weeks of lessons this fall, then we're off until winter camp.

This time he had to catch his horse and put the halter on her.  He's thrilled to have Sadie back - he had to let someone else use her this summer.  He liked Buck too, but Sadie is his favorite.

They practiced leading her around cones and over a "bridge."

Then he went for a ride, learning to use the reins.  He did much better this time, holding onto both, which he has been reluctant to do in the past.  He's still learning how to steer.

This time he rode with only a pad - no saddle.  That was a new experience too.

He was very cooperative, and did what they wanted him to.  I love this program.  They always have some learning goal too - it's not just about riding for fun.
