SewCalGal is hosting the 2011 Christmas Quilt Show, and this is my entry. It's a simple wall hanging. If you like my project, would you consider, heading over to there and voting for me on Saturday or Sunday? You can even win a prize for voting.
Actually this is serving a dual purpose. Our local quilt store's contest this month was to take this challenge fabric and make something Christmas related.
I got the idea and pattern for the word and manger from this book. The book is full of really cute Nativity related projects.
Instead of making the letters out of fabric, I decided to embroider them. I think this came out really well and I'm hoping it's cute enough to win the local contest. The prize there is a $25 store credit, but everyone gets $5 just for entering, which definitely makes it worth trying. They gave us the fat eighth of the challenge fabric, and all the rest of my fabric was from my stash, so I figure I'm coming out ahead ;)
