Fun With Son Number 1 :)

So I'm a bit behind in my posts, but I'll try to catch up in the next day or two.  Our oldest son was here for a week (two weeks ago ... told you I'm behind). There was a lot of silliness and card playing involved ... especially pinochle and uno.

Plenty of fishing too...

Grandpa was kind enough to volunteer to pick him up at the Denver airport and drive him up here (an 8 hour drive). THANKS DAD :)

My daughter and I brought the two littlest boys up after work... after all the fish had already been caught... all by my husband.

Don't you love how she's taking credit for all the fish as if she was the one who caught them? :P

Dad was doing especially well at catching firewood :)

The four year old LOVES to fish.

The one year old (see him in the background?) was just determined to get IN the lake.  The ice had only been off the lake for about two weeks at this point, and this is a glacier-fed lake, so even in the middle of summer the water is COLD.  It was icy cold that day.

Most of our evenings ended with an intense game of pinochle.

We took the boat out on Saturday (two weekends ago).  The four year old likes to think he's driving ;)

It was a nice day ... just a little chilly in the wind.

The back of the boat was a busy place, so I kept the little ones up front most of the time.

When we were shore fishing, my husband was the only one to catch fish.  On the boat, it was all our oldest son.  See the grimmace?  The fish bit him :P  L.O.L.

It was just shy of 24 inches long.

Our nine year old really isn't into fishing *gasp* ... unheard of in our family lol.

But he is really into art, so he brought his sketchbook and kept himself entertained.

Here's the second fish our son caught.  It was the exact same size as the first one.

We brought them home and cooked them and there was plenty for everyone.

It was such a nice visit.  Wish we could do that more often, but he's on his way to Turkey tonight and it could be a couple years before we get the chance to do this again.  So much can change in that amount of time - especially with the ages of our older kids - 20 and 22.  I wonder if one or both of them will be married before we get everyone together again...
