I took the five year old to the park after school. The two year old was home napping from playing outside all day, and the ten year old was at air rifle practice. So we were catching some sun while waiting on him. (I spend a lot of time in town between activities because it just doesn't make a lot of sense to run back and forth ten miles and burn fuel.)
There was a lady riding her horse at the park. It reminded him of Sadie. He is very excited to begin riding lessons next week.
He launched a bunch of stick boats, and one big clump of dried grass.
The grass stayed right on top and was even shaped like a sailboat. He noticed it right away and was very excited about it. The triangle part stood straight up like a real boat.
"Here, elk, elk, elk..." There weren't any there ... thankfully. We don't usually get elk in town. Just deer, moose and on the outskirts of town, antelope.
We still have quite a bit of snow in the shady areas. It's more than a foot deep in these areas. But it sure has melted a bunch. About a week or two ago, you couldn't get to any of the playground because it was several feet deep.
See the fish? Hard to see, but we saw a bunch of them at the kids' fishing pond. They are all pretty small, and they look hungry. They come right up to the edge. There are some bigger ones in there too, but they're smart enough to stay out of sight.
He had to play on everything, then when it was time to leave (more than an hour later), he was upset because he wanted to go for a hike down on the walking paths. Maybe next time.
