Camp Cookout

You might think all some people do around here is sleep.  HA.  Caught these two at it again.  I had to laugh.  From certain angles, that yellow puff ball pillow looked a little like a halo ... a little.

Speaking of sleeping, we were supposed to head up to the lake for a cookout with Bugga and Papa tonight.  While Dad was finishing cleaning up after work, these two crashed on the floor... about 5 minutes before we were supposed to leave.

We went anyway.  The baby napped a little longer once we got there, but the three year old caught his second wind and was a real hoot.

He spent most of his time pestering Papa.

He and Papa have a special bond.  He even held still and let Papa wipe his face - which nobody else can get away with.

He was showing Papa his stick.  He also played with bugs (one of which had him cracking up hysterically), threw things in the fire, "blew" on the fire (following his Dad's example, trying to get it going), and went hiking.

Oh yeah, and he ate well.  We all did.  Steaks for the adults, hot dogs for the kids, and on the side, Bugga's amazing dutch oven potatoes, creamed corn and garlic bread.  For dessert I made peanut butter cereal bars.

The baby finally woke up and had a bit of a hot dog and half of one of his gluten free cereal bars.

The eight year old brought me three pretty yellow flowers.

I love the way the sun makes shadows where the petals overlap.

The three year old was off and exploring too.

The eight year old found a bunch of pine cones.  We brought one home.

He arranged the rest as a centerpiece on the picnic table for Bugga.

It was a beautiful night - calm and cool, not too many bugs, and a pretty sunset too.

A perfect way to spend a relaxing evening.
