Sunday evening the boys were in a Christmas program at our church. They were all shepherds.
Their sister made it in time to see the program. :)
At first we couldn't get the five year old to agree to put his costume on. We tried to convince him for half an hour, but it was too overwhelming for him and he almost had a meltdown. When we went up to the auditorium, I told him it was time for him to get ready for his program and he could take it off right after his part. He readily agreed and then kept it on all evening.
Isn't this just the cutest class?
I was amazed. They both did exactly what they were supposed to.
Sort of. They went where they were supposed to go anyway. Neither of them sang or said the Bible verse, but still, I count this as a major accomplishment - especially for the five year old.
The nine year old had two roles. First he was a complainer ;) They did the whole story of Jesus, beginning with creation. Here they are complaining to Moses about the traveling conditions.
See the black streaks across one of the angels? Those are snakes falling from heaven (plastic ones - ha - we're not one of *those* churches).
Thankfully Moses obeyed God and put a brazen serpent on a rod and they were restored to life.
Then he was one of the shepherds in the field.
Amazed to be spoken to by angels.
Here's the whole crew. They did the Christmas song that spells out Christmas.
The nine year old with the letter A.
Our church has a neat tradition of giving "gifts for baby Jesus." These are actually donations to the church - nursery supplies, paper towels, coffee and creamer, etc. Everyone wraps their gifts and brings them to the church, then the youngest class unwraps everything.
It's a pretty fun way to make a donation.
It was especially cool to have our daughter be able to make it to town in time for the program. She goes to Bible college on the other side of the country, so it's nice to have her home for a couple weeks before she heads back to college. She was able to catch up with several friends too.
