Crazy Weather, Tons of Fun, and Prepping for Fair

This week has been a lot of fun.  We went back to our fishing spot Sunday evening.  The ten year old was gone when we caught 10 fish the other night, so he wanted in on the action.  He caught the first fish.

It was already pretty dark by the time we got up there, so I didn't get many pictures.

And we only came home with three this time.

We've had rain almost every day lately, in the afternoons.  We had a really pretty double rainbow Tuesday.

The summer reading program at the library hosted a magician.  She pretended to be from Mars.  She was odd and very loud - not really my thing at all, but she did a good job with her tricks.

Sticking with the space theme, her bunny's name was Luke Skyhopper.

The kids got to pet him afterward.

We're doing final prep work for our fair, which starts Friday.  The kids heard about the rock painting contest, so they all had to paint a rock or two.

These two are the ten year old's.

I think he decided to enter the rock wall with the gate in the competition.  First place in each age category gets $25.

He also made this owl, but thinks he did a better job on the gate, and that it is more original.

The three year old ended up with a pretty blue and blue rock.  He was just painting for fun.

He got more paint on the paper than on the rock.  But he had a good time.

If you look at the pictures above, you'll see that the five year old's rock started out completely orange.  Now it's half purple and half green.  He gave it to one of his therapists, so it's not going to fair either :)

 My daughter made this owl...

And a little birdie.  There's no age limit (she's 21) so she's going to enter hers too.  Entries can contain more than one rock, but they will be judged as one entry.

The ten year old finished up a couple of drawings and we framed them to take them to fair.

Tonight the five year old drew this on a piece of paper he had been cutting.  It's Dusty Crophopper.  This picture is amazingly better than anything he's ever drawn before.  I'm going to frame it just for our house.

We had some crazy sideways hail Tuesday night.

See how it piled up by the chair?

The lightning and thunder and hail was fun to watch.

Here is a pile by the bird seed bucket.  Pretty crazy.  Looked like snow.

See? It really did look like snow.
